‘Hannah the Spanner’ started life many years ago as a collection of bedtime stories that I made up when Hannah was probably three or four years old.

The story of an escaped bear who wanted to have a disco in our back garden quickly became a huge favourite and before long the demand for more Hannah stories meant that there were several to choose from. Some were better than others but thankfully my wife, Jacky made me write them down and kept badgering me over the years to finally finish them and to try and turn them into books.

Hannah was only the beginning. A few years later, with the arrival of Lucy, I needed a new character with his own tales and so Harry the Karate Monkey was born. If you look carefully, you’ll see him pop up in some of the Hannah the Spanner stories. Based on a stuffed toy that Lucy carried around everywhere she went by his long tail, the story of a very average monkey should hit the bookshops in 2020.

With the quite brilliant illustrations of Bill Greenhead and the help and guidance of many people behind the scenes, I hope that you enjoy reading our beloved stories and thank you for allowing us to bring the characters into your homes for your children to enjoy.
